10 course lute

This Renaissance lute has a string length of 667 mm and pitch is “F” (A=440).

It is after Sixtus Rauwolf of about 1580. The original is owned by Jacob Lindberg.

It produces a very finely focussed sound even when played quietly, as well as having warmth and body to the sound.

The original is very asymmetrical, so I have tried to interpret it to achieve an outline that captures its shape but is symmetrical.
